Food Allergy Basics

Food allergies take place if your body’s immune system responds to some ingredient in the meal, commonly a protein, your system perceives as harmful.  It might be very tough to find the cause, simply because you eat meals of combined food items and drinks.

The undeniable fact that some ingredients can trigger actual physical health issues has been known for centuries.  The things we eat don’t include antihistamine.

Immediate Food Reaction,  like the name suggests, can take place anywhere inside of 2-3 hours following digestion.   It’s usually a hypersensitivity response to a food that is normally considered to be safe.  It occurs more frequently in kids than it does in  grown ups: 5-8% of people age 4 or below and about 1-4% of grown ups have food allergies.  Collectively, about eleven million people in the US are afflicted to some extent of food hypersensitivity.

The signs of food allergic reactions are sometimes perplexing and may be mistaken for other conditions.  The signs of allergic reactions fluctuate for every person.  Signs  of a food hypersensitivity may include coughing or a lack of breath, rashes, such as hives, nausea or vomiting, queasiness, stomach pain and puffiness all around the mouth as well as in the neck.  Signs and symptoms generally develop right after the person ingests the ingredient that he or she is hypersensitive to, frequently from just a few minutes to several hours.

It’s recommended to wear or carry some form of Medical ID Bracelet, jewelry, or wallet card to let anyone know what your allergy is, and who to contact.
